Conference Venue

The main conference will be held at the new Halifax Convention Centre at 1650 Argyle Street. in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Workshops and Tutorials will be held at Dalhousie University, Marion McCain Arts and Social Sciences Building, 6135 University Ave. in rooms 2190 (tutorials) and 2198 (workshops).

The reception will be in the Great Hall, University Club, Dalhousie University, 6259 Alumni Crescent.

The banquet will be in the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, 5425 Sackville St.

Airport Ground Transportation information

Public bus connecting the city with the airport: MetroX 320: Airport/Fall River, Route 320 Schedule, Route 320 Map If the MacDonald bridge is closed, the bus makes a stop at the Dartmouth bridge terminal, then comes to Halifax taking the MacKay bridge, adding about 15min to the trip. If you need to take a taxi, here are two taxi companies you can call: Casino: +1 902 429 6666, Yellow Cab: +1 902 420 0000. Uber does not operate in Halifax. Bus #1 southbound crosses the city, and stops on Barrington, 50m north of the corner with Duke. Its late night stops there weeknights are 1035, 1050, 1105, 1120, 1135, 1150, 1205, 1220, 1235. It is likely to come faster than a taxi, and drop you off walking distance from your accommodation. Bus #10 crosses the South End, in case you have an AirBnb there. Same stop as #1, late night stops weekdays 1009, 1039, 1109, 1139,1209, 1239.

About Halifax

Halifax (/ˈhælɪfæks/, locally /ˈhɛlɪfæks/), legally known as the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), is the capital of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. A Brief Halifax Harbour Cruise

If you have a bit of time and would like to see Halifax from the water then you could consider taking the ferry across the harbour from Halifax to Dartmouth. As part of our public transit system this service is very reasonably priced ($2.50) and takes 12 minutes for the crossing. Depending on the time of the ferry comes every 15 minutes, or every 30 minutes. You could spend a bit of time in Dartmouth and take the ferry back again, or you could consider a longer excursion involving walking back across the MacDonald Bridge. Halifax is a port city with a long military and industrial heritage. In recent years much of the waterfront has been reclaimed for pedestrians with a scenic boardwalk, shops, restaurants, buskers and attractions for tourists. Ride the Harbour Hopper

This is a guided bus tour of Halifax with a twist: the bus is an amphibious vehicle that not only drives along the historic streets and avenues, but drives straight into the harbour to continue the tour from the water. The Harbour Hopper leaves from a waterside location at the bottom of Salter Street, but you will need to make a booking in advance. The price is $35 and tours leave hourly every day.
